Staff Geologist or Environmental Scientist

G2 is seeking the availability for a Contract Staff Geologist or Environmental Scientist for our Houston office with environmental site assessment/remediation experience.
Responsibilities:
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) (ASTM 1527-AAI).
Phase II ESA site investigation fieldwork including soil boring installation & sampling, groundwater monitor well installation, soil & groundwater sampling, create boring logs, data analysis and map preparation.
Assist Project Managers and senior staff with assessment/monitoring and closure needs.
Assist with work plan preparation.
Coordinate field work permitting, Utility Location Requests and laboratory bottle orders.
Coordinate and conduct subsurface investigations and related soil and groundwater sampling with accurate documentation with Field Notes.
Compile data and various regulatory report writing and document investigation/assessment activities.
Qualifications
BS or BA in Geology, Environmental Science or related field
A minimum of 2 years of environmental industry experience
PG or PE a plus
HAZWOPER a plus
Working knowledge of EPA and TCEQ site investigation and remediation rules and regulations (TAC 350-Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) & TAC 334-Petroleum Storage Tank rules).
Must be able to speak and write clearly and concisely in the English language.
Must have experience in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; A Plus for: Boring Log software, AutoCAD and GIS

Environmental Scientist II
Job Description: Conduct studies and investigations for the purpose of preparing reports and applications for environmental permits, in support of planning, development and construction projects for various industries and markets. Collect, analyze, manage, and report ecological data, such as habitat descriptions, vegetation cover types, plant taxonomy, soil conditions and hydrology indicators for assessing protected species’ habitats and wetlands. Communicate scientific and technical information to the project team, client organizations and resource agencies through written reports and/or presentations. Provide technical and regulatory guidance to the project team in support of permit applications and environmental programs. Review environmental reports, permits, and related materials. Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance. Generate reports on field investigations, permit application packages, and wetland mitigation plans. Collect project related data including research and surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies, landowners and clients, and resource map reviews. Conduct field investigations for wetlands, land use, and other related disciplines. Utilize knowledge of Clean Water Act Regulatory Program, Endangered Species Act and National Historic Preservation Act, as they relate to environmental permitting. Utilize knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act as it relates to project development.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in natural resources related field (e.g., forestry, range management, biology, ecology, wildlife management). 3-5 years field ecology experience with focus on wetland delineation, protected species and habitats, permits and report writing. Solid organizational and technical writing skills are essential. Effective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills. Interact on a professional level with clients, and demonstrate solid decision making skills. Ability to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams (e.g., GIS, survey, engineering, planning, etc.) where overlap of client project work exists.
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Candidates must be able to conduct fieldwork beyond 8 hours, in sometimes inclement weather conditions, and remote locations, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
