EHS Technician - VLS Recovery Services

Position Description

The EHS Technician role is responsible for ensuring VLS Recovery Services’ EHS policies and procedures are effectively implemented in the field. The successful candidate will contribute to the success of VLS Recovery Services through providing a strong, positive field presence that represents a visible example of our EHS culture. This position reports to the Vice President – EHS and supports all Houston area facilities. This is an excellent entry level position with a rapidly growing environmental services company.

 

Responsibilities of the Position
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

* Effectively work with Plant Managers / Operations Managers to ensure that all work practices are compliant with all regulatory (OSHA. EPA, TCEQ, DOT, etc.) and VLS Recovery Services requirements;
* Participate in customer audits as well as government agency inspections;
* Conduct routine self-assessments of EHS field training programs;
* Create and conduct periodic contractor safety training;
* Effectively communicate changes to site procedures and policies to impacted parties;
* Train new teammates on the VLS Recovery Services policies and procedures and ensure all federal, state, and local regulation requirements are met;
* Complete regulatory compliance, training, and other actions on-time with appropriate closure status;
* Management of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes including profiling, scheduling, recordkeeping, and reporting;
* Timely completion of daily/weekly/monthly inspections for container storage areas, operational areas, fire extinguishers, safety equipment, etc.;
* Maintaining documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance with air emissions authorizations (permit by rule, new source review, etc.);
* Sample collection of various media for purposes of waste characterization;
* Other duties as assigned by the Vice President - EHS.

 

Basic Qualifications (required):

 

* Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry, Bioenvironmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or other engineering/science discipline;
* Zero to three year’s experience in the EHS field, with a particular emphasis in the areas of waste and wastewater management through either on-the-job training or coursework;
* Ability to successfully complete pre-employment drug & alcohol screen, pre-employment physical examination, and background check upon receiving an offer of employment;
* Maintain a driving history satisfactory with VLS Recovery Services standards, and its insurer;
* While performing the duties of this job, the successful candidate must be able to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and/or hear;
* Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
* Must be able to complete tasks both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions;
* Required to carry a company-provided cell phone, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours;
* Basic knowledge of applicable EPA and TCEQ rules and regulations related to air, water, and waste management;
* Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, often under short or changing deadlines, in a diverse and fast paced environment;
* Strong oral and written communication skills;
* Adaptable to organizational change;
* Maintain a valid Texas driver’s license;
* Ability to work independently to prioritize and manage workload while providing timely turnaround on tasks;
* Ability to work as a member of a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to established work schedules;
* Ability to interact with regulatory agencies and peers with self-confidence, poise, and professionalism;
* Proficient in using MS Office Software features to effectively execute work tasks; and

 

Preferred Qualifications:
* Completion of OSHA 30-hour general industry or construction industry course;
* Completion of RCRA training course; and
* Completion of 24-hour HAZWOPER course.

Environmental Planner and Coordinator

This full-time position is based out of our Houston, Texas.

CCI & Associates is a leading multi-disciplinary engineerinTg consulting firm offering services in Engineering, Geotechnical, Construction Management, Environmental, Regulatory and Pipeline Integrity. We have established ourselves as experts in Trenchless Technology and Open-Cut pipeline construction methods. We are a driving force in the continuing advancement of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) systems including annular pressure modeling, intercept design projects, specialized pullhead design and pipeline pull-force modelling.

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Environmental Planner and Coordinator is responsible for providing planning, permitting, operational oversight and reporting as it relates to environmental and regulatory matters for CCI and Associates’ pipeline crossing projects throughout the US.

Accountabilities:

• Investigate and complete regulatory applications for clients in all US operations

• Complete/coordinate the field assessments and reporting of environmental work for various clients
• Manage drilling waste disposal and turbidity monitoring on a project basis
• Prepare documents and reports on projects (current field operations and completed field operations)
• Market regulatory and environmental planning, auditing and monitoring work to existing and new clients
• Oversee the management of field Environmental Inspectors, Environmental Specialists, Aquatic Specialists and Environmental Monitors
• Work with the regulators and public stakeholders to find solutions for our clients
• Contribute to internal document development, quality assurance and quality control processes
• Provide continual support for clients through ongoing discussions, monitoring of client issues and development of mitigation plans as required
• Develop and implement a strategy for training and resource literature for field services of CCI’s projects
• Work with existing clients to increase awareness about CCI’s capabilities regarding environmental and regulatory services
• Provides estimates and budgets for CCI’s Environmental and Regulatory services - includes proposal writing and ensuring that all project roles and responsibilities are well defined and understood
• Provide feedback to (including client feedback) to CCI management based on the evaluation of services and recommendations for improvement
• Develop an ongoing schedule for upcoming work and available manpower
• Other field work, as required
• Additional duties as required

 Qualifications:

 • Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental sciences

• Previous experience with the F.E.R.C. and/or US Army Corps of Engineers specifically in pipeline permitting.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows
• Must be extremely organized and be able to prioritize workload
• Outstanding attention to detail and quality of work
• Able to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be an organized self-starter with the ability to work independently

Account Leadership & Client Strategy

* Primary focus on leading the key client account development, sales, and delivery of the full spectrum of consulting services to deliver strategic value to meet the needs of the key client.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* BS/MS in engineering, safety, science, business, or related degree.
* 15+ years’ progressive experience in either a consulting environment or working substantially in the Oil & Gas sector.
* In-depth understanding of the TransCanada including existing relationships that can be leveraged into new business.
* Demonstrable track record in strategic account management delivering multimillion dollar sales results annually, including successfully winning large and strategic projects and developing trusted advisor relationships within O&G client organizational structures, with TransCanada
